Processing Step 10

In Step 10 it says I should use [new subject] when generating a triple  
for @property. In my code I think I had cases where I had [new  
subject] as null, so I added code to do use [parent subject] if null.  
Did I just hack it and am not following the document correctly (like  
missing some rule to set [new subject] to [parent subject] somewhere?
