"The condition $val eq $val is true except when $val is NaN. This predicate therefore has the effect of discarding NaNs from the sequence." Wow ! Suggest: there should be a more intuitive way of discarding NaNs from a sequence. If that's impossible, please re-insert the explanatory note.
