Hi Tzviya and all,

I haven’t seen objections for contacting EDRLab, even some encouragements.
So I will do that now on behalf of the SC.

Let me summarize here what could be the global scope of this « fundraising hosting » :

  *   Build a web site with hosting, design and wording to be validated by SC
  *   Payment on line, to a specific banking account (do we have any rec or issues here?)
  *   Reporting on payments, online access to SC only
  *   Follow schedule of deliverables from the epubcheck development planning
  *   Pay the developer if SC is ok

Is something missing?
We could discuss details with EDRLab if they are willing to do it. And costs…

I will propose they participate to Friday call.

Hi Luc,

W3C will still be able to help us with the Website, but 35% (!!!) would go to MIT. This also affects the way in which we write an SOW and MSA with the team to whom we reward the proposal.

If everyone agrees to contact EDRLab, then I recommend contacting them and inviting them to Friday’s call.

We are very short on time, so shall we assume that if we don’t hear any comments by the end of the day on Tuesday 21 August that Luc should contact EDRLab on Wednesday?

Hi,

I suppose some kind of tool needs to be setup for that fundraising, or could we go through a public crowdfunding tool?

This setup may have a cost, even for EDRLab.
Do we know the value of  the  « portion of what is donated will go to MIT »?

I personally would be OK to let EDRLab host the funding, but it has to be checked with them if this is possible.
I can ask Laurent Le Meur on behalf to he SC.

Hello Steering Committee,

Thank you to those who have weighed in on the recommendation from the review committee. I look forward to hearing back from the rest of you.

Tzviya and I met with Wendy about hosting the fundraising site through the W3C/MIT. We learned that if we take that route, a portion of what is donated will go to MIT. Since those funds are precious, we are looking at backup plans for hosting fundraising.

At one point it was proposed that EDRLab might be able to host the fundraising effort. How does the steering committee feel about pursuing this option and for those of you involved in EDRLab, is this a possibility?

Given our time constraints on moving this project forward, it is in our best interest to discuss this over email rather than wait for the next meeting.
