@darobin I agree that only CR is too late, but I don't think that document transitions through the living standard lifecycles are too late. I've also intentionally timeboxed it to a month here which I think is a reasonable time period considering how long horizontal reviews generally seem to take. I see your point however that we should make this more clearly tied to significant changes, not just any step on the living standard lifecycle. That said, I don't think that it would involve custom surveys for each event, but instead be a pretty generalized survey that we can adjust to point at the changeset, with anything that needs explaining written in to a space. I also think it is a good idea to accompany this with the option for the CG to orchestrate an ad-hoc session as well. I don't think that the current processes that the W3C has generally relied on in the past are effective for engaging the larger feedback from less-technical stakeholders that have generally accompanied our activity in this space, and thus far we've relied pretty heavily on participants doing informal roadshows for various stakeholders and trade groups. Having a standard communication, and an initial email list, seems pretty low lift and could allow us to have clearer communication. Heck, we could even--theoretically--automate it to some degree. We can also solicit such responses to come through a Github Issue Template in the WG, though I think we shouldn't rely on all interested parties understanding Github. I see this as basically an additional chunk of the horizontal review process and communication with other groups, just including external groups. As for the work involved, I see there are a number of participants who are highly engaged in attempting to collect the feedback of various external organizations and we would rely on them to identify such organizations, their points of contact, and collaborate on collating responses. If there is not significant feedback, there's no need to form a document. I do like the idea of a Twitter account though!
