Dear All This is the first time I am posting here. Hello! The British Library is building a digital store (which we call the Digital Library System) and as part of its architecture are wishing to employ ODRL. As you can imagine we need to manage all sorts of digital objects ranging from public domain items, electronic legal deposit items (which in the UK have rather oddly been divorced from copyright law so live in their own parallel rights universe), creative commons materials, through to purchased journal subscriptions, sound recordings in the national sound archive and orphan works. And much more. We have taken a quick look at the ODRL vocabulary and are trying to understand it more in order to be able to translate it into the vocabulary we have been using over the last 2 years in the context of building our own digital rights management systems. I wonder if colleagues would be kind enough to look at the questions in the attached and let me know what you think? Of course the issue with rights is it is often not so black and white but any help you can give us would be gratefully received. Kind regards Ben P Please consider the environment and do not print this email unless absolutely necessary. Encourage environmental awareness!
