Advance notice: Work in progress on Web Payments Working Group Charter

Hello,

This is an advance notice that the W3C Team is currently working on a
new charter [1] for the Web Payments Working Group.

The mission of the Web Payments Working Group is to make consumer retail
payments easier and more secure on the Web.

The current charter expires at the end of July 2025. The objective of
the new charter is to position the Working Group to be able to
contribute to discussions about digital wallets for identity and
payments, in part to help ensure alignment with the WG's current
deliverables such as Payment Request API. The group will also continue
work on its primary current deliverable, Secure Payment Confirmation (SPC).

We welcome input and feedback on the draft charter. If you wish to make
your comments public, you're welcome to raise issues by sending email to
public-payments-wg@w3.org (archive [2]).

W3C Members may also discuss this on the member-confidential mailing
list <w3c-ac-forum@w3.org>. You may also provide feedback on the
Strategy Team's issue in GitHub [3].

If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free
to contact Ian Jacobs at <ij@w3.org>.

A formal Advisory Committee Review for this charter is expected at the
end of May.

This announcement follows section 4.1 of the Process Document:
