Hello all – Terminology feedback in case it is helpful:… I like double-sided ruby. Two-step should be hyphenated. I wonder how useful such implementation details is to the document, however. Two-pass is also acceptable… For the characters we used to call “double-byte”, I use “CJK characters” these days. --Nat From: Atsushi Shimono (W3C Team) <atsushi@w3.org> Date: Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 11:51 AM To: public-i18n-japanese@w3.org <public-i18n-japanese@w3.org> Subject: Re: English version of simple-ruby one update and one question to all. English for 両側ルビ : https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fw3c%2Fsimple-ruby%2Fpull%2F17%23discussion_r423466686&data=02%7C01%7Cnmccully%40adobe.com%7Cef8c02f0b92c4f1582c508d7f837d248%7Cfa7b1b5a7b34438794aed2c178decee1%7C0%7C0%7C637250790945917155&sdata=UJqs9pM2Gpw4BhkMN9BR2v9mW%2B1ZlgM%2BqNaU7XMzlS8%3D&reserved=0 JLReq have text as "dual ruby composition" (no specific section for 両側ルビ). Some documents write this as double-sided ruby. We use this term in parallel to mono-ruby, jukugo-ruby, group-ruby, so format of xxxx-ruby could be simpler, but dual-ruby is not easily understanding. b. two step processing method as solid term, like "two-step"? : https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fw3c%2Fsimple-ruby%2Fpull%2F17%23discussion_r423505558&data=02%7C01%7Cnmccully%40adobe.com%7Cef8c02f0b92c4f1582c508d7f837d248%7Cfa7b1b5a7b34438794aed2c178decee1%7C0%7C0%7C637250790945917155&sdata=BWATqSjB%2Bx9G%2FYaTh48zCeQJY%2BMqyGWpS9SRvt4VdZ8%3D&reserved=0 There is no similar term on processing method, so I think it's fine to leave without having a solid term,,,. c. English for 仮名等 : https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fw3c%2Fsimple-ruby%2Fpull%2F17%23discussion_r423519928&data=02%7C01%7Cnmccully%40adobe.com%7Cef8c02f0b92c4f1582c508d7f837d248%7Cfa7b1b5a7b34438794aed2c178decee1%7C0%7C0%7C637250790945917155&sdata=WepW1oIkoQovgP67v2OU7sW7eBm%2B1fTGgPHMYob0o34%3D&reserved=0 This is one used in group ruby, for 仮名等 / 欧文用文字等 "Wide characters" could be confusing,,, any suitable one...?
