Folks, Listening to Addison on our telecon this week, I realised that we have been neglecting our review comment tables a little, but also two things have been bugging me for a while: (1) we recently discussed making the process simpler by allowing individuals to comment, then decide whether or not to back those comments as a WG. This makes it more likely that people will send email first, and we need to patch up the tables later. We need an easier way to do that. (2) it feels like it's too difficult to correctly edit the pages containing the tables. So in my 'spare time' over the last couple of days I worked on the table for Widgets PC (which I also updated with the comments that I had made). http://www.w3.org/International/reviews/0907-widgets-pc/ now allows you to edit the table in the browser, without touching any of the structural html. NOTE, however, that for security reasons it doesn't save your changes to the server. The changes you see are only on your client. To make a permanent change to the page you need to dump the source text into the field at the bottom of the page using the button, then copy and paste it either into a copy of the document in an editor or into an email that you send to someone who can edit the document for you. Even if you are able to edit the file yourself, this method should be faster and more accurate, since you don't have to work with the basic html, just the essential information that needs to change. I need to provide some additional instructions for use, but I don't have time just now. However I will just say here (a) that if you hit the Edit button you need to scroll to the bottom of the page to find the editing form (I may fix this later to automatically jump there.) and (b) don't forget to fill in the subject prefix, since this isn't filled in automatically (eg. [WIDGET PC]), and (c) make the subject out of text in the subject of the email that sends the comment, since this will be used for searching for threads in the archive. Also, if you do send email first, try to send one email per issue (unlike my comments to Widgets PC !), since this makes it much easier to track things. I had to do this in a hurry, so there may be bugs. I hope that helps, all the same, RI ============ Richard Ishida Internationalization Lead W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) http://www.w3.org/International/ http://rishida.net/
