严格来讲，这类用法不仅限于轻小说。这种「写作A，读作B」的用法来源于日文，在「二次元」亚文化中很常见，尤其是日本漫画、轻小说、流行音乐歌词，我在上方列举的例子就包含了三者。顺带补充一点，中文翻译时标注为西文的多为专有名词，即我列举的用法1，例如我在上文中列举的「<ruby>超电磁炮<rt>Railgun</rt></ruby>」「<ruby>超能力者<rt>Level 5</rt></ruby>」，《海贼王》（Onepiece）中的<ruby>東の海<rt>イーストブルー</rt></ruby> → <ruby>东海<rt>East Blue</rt></ruby>，但不绝对。

中文在翻译时，时常需对其进行保留。以下是台湾角川引进的漫画《科學心理掌握》中的案例（标注英文的情况较简单，我没有过多列举）：

作为在部分社群广泛使用，且已在正式出版物中有不少案例的用法，我个人认为还是有添加用例相关说明的意义的。
