My code really did look for *attributes*. (And sorry about the  
duplicate message.)

Anyway, it appears that the proposal that is commented out in the  
HTML5 draft covers almost all of existing practice for *renderer- 
sensitive* syntax and covers the existing practice for it better than  
the SVG WG's proposal (the cases where NS declarations are broken).
