That kind of condescending response is uncalled for and unacceptable.

Assuming that you can read what you so ably cut-and-paste, you will
note the charter says that the WG 'will not assume that an SGML parser
is used'. We are not required to gratuitously break compatibility with HTML
as an SGML application, nor are we expected to eschew XML.
