JF ------------------------------ John Foliot Web Accessibility Specialist W3C Invited Expert - Accessibility Co-Founder, Open Web Camp From: Paul Cotton [mailto:Paul.Cotton@microsoft.com] Sent: Friday, October 31, 2014 2:39 PM To: public-html-admin@w3.org Subject: CfC: Request transition of Image Description Extension (longdesc) to Proposed Recommendation In accordance with both the W3C process's requirement to record the group's decision to request advancement [1], and with the steps identified in the "Plan 2014" CfC [2], this is a Call for Consensus (CfC) to request transition to Proposed Recommendation for the following document: http://www.w3.org/2014/09/04-PR-html-longdesc/ For reference, there were no bugs addressed during the current Candidate Recommendation [3] stage for this document: https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/buglist.cgi?bug_status=UNCONFIRMED <https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/buglist.cgi?bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&bug_statu s=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=RESOLVED&bug_status =VERIFIED&bug_status=CLOSED&chfield=resolution&chfieldfrom=2014-09-12&chfiel dto=Now&component=HTML%20Image%20Description%20Extension&list_id=46303&produ ct=HTML%20WG&query_format=advanced> &bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=RESOLVED& bug_status=VERIFIED&bug_status=CLOSED&chfield=resolution&chfieldfrom=2014-09 -12&chfieldto=Now&component=HTML%20Image%20Description%20Extension&list_id=4 6303&product=HTML%20WG&query_format=advanced There were two minor changes made to the CR specification as the result of implementation experience: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2014Sep/0000.html http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2014Sep/0011.html The CR implementation report with test results can be found at [4]. Note: The Director has ruled [5] on the Formal Objection [6] about whether this document should be on the Recommendation track. Objections to this CfC on the grounds raised in the Formal Objection [6] are now out of scope and should be taken up via your AC Representative and/or the W3C Director. Silence will be taken to mean there is no objection, but positive responses are encouraged. If there are no objections by Friday November 7, this resolution will carry. Considerations to note: - A request to advance indicates that the Working Group believes the specification is stable and appropriate for advancement to Recommendation status. /paulc on behalf of the HTML WG co-chairs [1] http://www.w3.org/2005/10/Process-20051014/tr.html#transition-reqs [2] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2012Oct/0026.html [3] http://www.w3.org/TR/2014/CR-html-longdesc-20140812/ [4] http://w3c.github.io/test-results/html-longdesc/cr-report.html [5] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-admin/2014Oct/0099.html [6] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-admin/2014Aug/0028.html Paul Cotton, Microsoft Canada 17 Eleanor Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K2E 6A3 Tel: (425) 705-9596 Fax: (425) 936-7329
