Revised Community Directory requirements (as of 7-Mar-2013)

Hi,
Thanks to GLD WG members for comments today on the Directory. Attached please find the updated Community Directory requirements. Also available here. [1]

The requirements are an iteration on the existing, running directory that today has 75 organizations listed. This revised approach addresses UI/UX issues, the problem of requiring logins to add/update info in the directory and longer term maintenance. The proposed workflow (attached) uses a linked data approach to build the Directory itself. It showcases organizations doing LD and does so using an LD approach.

The benefit to participating organizations is they get: 1) some well-formed RDF in their website, albeit basic; 2) automates the Community Directory itself; and 3) shows how every website can benefit from a little linked data, starting with our own (LD) community.

If you have any questions or recommendations, please suggest them this month. We aim to update the Community Directory workflow by end of March 2013. Our goal is to make more useful linked open data available and to widen the audience of people who understand the benefits of LOD for distributed data management.

Again, this is a deliverable for the W3C Gov't Linked Data Working Group, per our charter.[2] http://www.w3.org/2011/gld/charter

Thanks for reviewing.
Cheers,

Bernadette Hyland, co-chair
W3C Government Linked Data Working Group
