GLD, This message is for that subset of GLD that plan to attend the January F2F meeting in Washington. I have reserved a room in the conference center at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) for us to meet, and there are a number of hotels that are either nearby or a short Metro ride away. The link below can be used to find hotels near BLS that honor the government rate or less. The address for BLS is 2 Massachusetts Ave, NE Washington, DC 20212 BLS is directly across the street (1st St NE) from Union Station (the rail station), which includes a Metro stop. Therefore, BLS is easy to reach from many parts of the city. The Phoenix Park hotel is right across the street from BLS, but it is expensive (http://www.barcelo.com/BarceloHotels/en-GB/Hotels/UnitedStates/WashingtonDC/PhoenixPark/Home=?GO_062011_ROS_S1_en_US_H241&gclid=COG1-Lnnh60CFQdN4AodZkMonA). Still, they might have OK rates at this time. To gain entrance to the BLS building, you must let us (Bernadette, George, and me) know you plan to attend the meeting in advance. If your name is not on the list, you cannot get into the building. This rule is firm. The BLS conference center has a wireless network, but a temporary account is required. So, anyone needing wireless access must let us know in advance also. Ethernet cable access will not be available. The visitor's entrance to BLS is on 1st St NE, about 200 feet north of the intersection of Massachusetts Ave, 1st St, and Columbus Circle. It is directly across from the northern street entrance to the Metro station in Union Station. I am hosting a meeting at BLS for 2 mornings in late January, and some of the participants will be coming in from out of town. They'll need a hotel nearby. Is there a list of such hotels that honor the government rate? Thanks, Dan Dan Gillman OSMR x17523
