Re: [dxwg] Differentiating Functional & Data Profiling in Conneg (#1022)

Rob, I think you are looking at the title of the poll as the answer, not a brief title. If you look, you can see that the title of the poll also repeats the word "use" multiple times in odd ways, but that doesn't negate the outcome, which was to arrive at a definition for DCAT and Conneg. The issue discussion was rich and detailed, and the upshot was that the group decided during that discussion that the term "profile" alone (which is what we were replacing) was too vague, and that "data profile" was preferred. So the title, albeit using shorthand, was correct in that the discussion was introduced as "Revisiting the definition of profile" (#963) and the result was to replace it with "data profile" using the agreed definition.

Note that the poll proposal was worded exactly as the consensus of #963 decided. The vote during the poll was overwhelmingly positive, including votes from Lars and Ruben, with yours as the only negative vote. We gave people a chance to adopt your suggested wording by opening a separate poll, and did not get any positive votes. Calling the consensus of the group a "poor choice of wording and poor process" is quite unkind as people worked in good faith the develop what they thought to be the best solution, and the process fit well into the W3C consensus work.
