Last week I was at the first Rail Data Forum in Verona, organized by ERA. Surprisingly for this old established industry, they practically swear by semantic data interoperability. The presentations are online: https://www.era.europa.eu/agenda/agenda-rail-data-forum-2024 They have started working on a Rail dataspace, but I warned that they should not be content with a plain deployment, and throw semantics out the door, like most dataspaces currently do. Eg at the IDSA webinar cited by Pieter, someone from DSSC said that data interoperability AND data quality is not part of their mandate (only *dataspace* interoperability is). I likened this to "So you want to create a marketplace, but you don't care about the quality of goods people place there, or even whether they sell drugs?"
