@tabatkins said on the web-platform-tests Matrix chat last week that it would be OK if we (the WPT maintainers) drop support for the WPT build system. I tried out what that might look like https://github.com/web-platform-tests/wpt/pull/38976 and started working on https://github.com/web-platform-tests/rfcs/pull/136. That RFC doesn't have any of the background or detail needed, but I'd like to flag here early that I'm looking at it.
