LeaVerou has just created a new issue for https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts: == [css-images-4] Gamma errors in image downsampling == Per WG resolution, [this](https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-style/2014Nov/0114.html) Images 3 issue was deferred to L4. This is to replace the old issue. Original text: > A colleague brought [this](http://www.4p8.com/eric.brasseur/gamma.html) to my attention, which seems to demonstrate an image scaling bug in pretty much every browser I tried the [testcase](http://www.4p8.com/eric.brasseur/gamma_dalai_lama.html) on. Furthermore, the results across UAs are inconsistent, which might indicate a standardization opportunity. I, myself, have noticed similar errors when scaling down certain patterns in the past, so stumbling on these issues is not that rare. Applying different values to the image-rendering property seems to affect the results, but no value produces a correctly downscaled image (including the various properietary values…). > Shouldn’t image-rendering: crisp-edges fix this? Is there any spec violation here at all, or is that part of image scaling undefined? Any thoughts? [Old discussion](https://www.w3.org/Mail/flatten/index?subject=https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-style/2014Nov/0114.html&list=www-style) and [last post (not caught by flatten)](https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-style/2014Nov/0116.html) Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/4195 using your GitHub account
