The v2 context shipped on May 15 2025 when the VCDM v2.0 spec shipped.
It's locked in place and will never change (the cryptographic hash for
that context is published in the VCDM v2.0 spec):

https://www.w3.org/TR/vc-data-model-2.0/#base-context

That said, you are correct that the example will need to be updated to
use a newer v2.1 (or later) context when we ship this particular
specification. We would also ship a "side car" context for those that
want to backport the feature into VCDM v1.0 or v2.0 VCs (though, we
expect the most common path is that developers will just upgrade to
the newest v2.1+ context).

The contexts ship with the specs, so they are in scope... and
presuming the 2026 VCWG Charter is approved at the end of the week,
all of that will be in scope for the new VCWG.

Did that answer your question adequately, Christopher?
