Hey Will, I took a look and yes, what you suggest, or variations
thereof would slot into the current spec easily. There are some
details we'd need to work out, like the ones you mention in the
document, but it seems like we could have a complete solution and
implementations within a few months.

The only downside I can see is an increase in ecosystem complexity...
if implementations don't know how to handle ElidedMultikeys, then
they'll just fail. That said, that's exactly the sort of default
behavior we'd expect.

I also like your proposal to do this as an extension as that enables
the work to start immediately, be incubated in parallel, and then
easily be folded into the core spec in time (if the WG believes that
would be useful).

Nicely done, Will! I'm excited about the proposal.
