Regarding ISO (and their national bodies), pay-for-standards often works in the other direction, limited industry uptake.

I'm working with payments solutions have yet to encounter a *single* reference to https://x9.org/
Have anybody even head about X9.24? https://webstore.ansi.org/Standards/ASCX9/ANSIX9242016

That these standards are developed behind doors is also a disadvantage.

The W3C payment WG once had to ask for encrypted ISO 20022 documents and then distributed the decryption key to a handful of "trustworthy" members.🤦‍♂️
