crypto art

Has anoyone here been following the "crypto art" stuff?

The idea is to store ownership in a blockchain and prevenance
stenogrpahically, as far as i can determine, in digital art.

There have been protests because of the "high encironmental impact of
anything using blockchain", and ArtStation withdrew its anouncement to
support crypto art. I'm not at all sure the scheme needs to have an
especially high encironmental impact - it's not mining for bitcoins
after all - so maybe it's an example of the need for careful messaging?
