Thank you Ted, I greatly appreciate the concrete examples of W3C Primers. What I'm initially going to propose is a much simpler style of document that, if the community chooses, might later evolve into a Primer. The concept I have in mind I'm referring to as a Guide, with the working title being the Verifiable Credentials Guide (actual title subject to eventual discussion once the work item is ready for review). The high-level goal is to knit together, by reference, the 3 documents we currently have in the VC family with some framing such as: * Background * Overview * Purpose * Intended Audience * Goals * Drivers * Organization of the VC Documents * A section per existing document with a single paragraph or two about each of the existing VC documents in terms of what they contain * A final section about how they inter-relate, where to go for what Body text of maybe 5 pages in length (I would be personally disappointed if it was much longer than 5 pages). Oops 😉 I didn’t mean to but I guess the above is the draft of the core language in the W3C Note work item to be proposed, maybe later this week. A follow-on CCG work item might propose that an actual Primer be created (as referenced by Ted’s excellent list of examples) but I have a strong preference that we start with the Guide concept because I think it can be completed fairly quickly, without too much contention, and still provide significant value – particular for the audience I have in mind (possibly in the 1.1/1.2 timeframe without impacting the 1.1/1.2 schedule …or with very minimal impact). Like yourself Ted, I’m bringing forward my knowledge and experience as a software architect, professional communicator, and awarding-winning technical writer. I want to do this in a collegial way to benefit the VC community at large. Lastly, I need a co-author. Who would like to work on this work item as a co-author (is editor the more correct term?). Thoughts? Michael, I believe what you're looking for is what folks in W3 groups have long referred to as a PRIMER. Examples include the PROV-O Primer [1], the RDF 1.1 Primer [2], and many more [3]. Contributions to such a primer for DIDs, VCs, and related arenas would be welcome, I'm sure, though I should caution all potential contributors that those contributions may be edited rather a lot by the end of the process, and you may not recognize what you have contributed in the final product -- but that does not mean that your contributions are not valuable and helpful along the way! Every little bit helps! Be seeing you, Ted [1] https://www.w3.org/TR/prov-primer/ [2] https://www.w3.org/TR/rdf11-primer/ [3] https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aw3.org+inurl%3Atr+primer -- A: Yes. http://www.idallen.com/topposting.html | Q: Are you sure? | | A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. | | | Q: Why is top posting frowned upon?
