I think such hash description standard is very much needed. For example, it will come handy in referencing and attaching data to VC (issues 135, 136). Only, minor reservation, why it is called "multihash"? For me it suggests that the value of multihash contains multiple hashes. I would call it "unihash" (unified, universal hash). –Bohdan ---- On Sun, 12 Aug 2018 23:36:45 +0300 Manu Sporny <msporny@digitalbazaar.com> wrote ---- Hi all, I've been talking with Juan Benet and the research team at Protocol Labs about sending Multihash through the IETF process. I just created and published the first RFC-formatted version here: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-multiformats-multihash/ I've asked the Digital Verification Community Group (DVCG) to adopt this specification as a work item, as long as Protocol Labs approves (waiting on a response from them). The expected usage of the specification is for identifying content on self sovereign servers (Service Endpoints, Identity Hubs, Personal Data Stores, Evidence Servers, Chainpoint-style protocols, etc.). This is just a heads-up to this community, who shares meetings with the DVCG. -- manu -- Manu Sporny (skype: msporny, twitter: manusporny, G+: +Manu Sporny) Founder/CEO - Digital Bazaar, Inc. blog: Veres One Decentralized Identifier Blockchain Launches https://tinyurl.com/veres-one-launches
