First let me say, thanks for forwarding the document to the list, being timezone challenged from the point of view of being involved with the meeting, it is really interesting to see some of what was discussed. Coming from the content creation side, I'll suggest that a simple brightness/saturation slider probably is not enough to preserve the original intent when transforming from a dark environment to a dim or light environment, I'd consider a gamma and/or a black level type slider to help deal with the various effects (Stevens, Hunt, etc). Now obviously there is a performance trade off, both in terms of CPU cycles and in user time 'playing with sliders'. I also realise that adding more sliders can result in worse reproduction of an image than with fewer. The colour science approach to this would be to use some form of simple colour appearance model and let the system drive as many of the parameters into the model and only give the users minimal overrides. Unfortunately there are no really well established models for HDR viewing, but I think it would be worth considering how your block diagram could be enhanced as such things evolve. Kevin
