Task force status and plans

Hi all,

We're now 6 weeks into our headlight task force, and as a reminder, we
have two main deadlines ahead of us:
* June 9, the date at which I'll present our preliminary findings to the
W3C Advisory Committee
* July 15, the date at which I'll present our final request for
resources to W3C Management

We've already identified a number of gaps that likely need to be closed,
as I tried to summarize two weeks ago:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-closingthegap/2013Mar/0063.html

There are still a few topics that haven't been brought up and that I
intend to bring to the list next week.

I will then ask for volunteers (or more likely, designated volunteers)
to draft more in-depth plans for each of the topics that would have
emerged as interesting leads. These in-depth plans would offer propose
specific actions that W3C should take to close the gap (see
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-closingthegap/2013Mar/0002.html for some potential ideas of actions).

Once we have that series of plans, I will ask that we prioritize that
list so that the most impactful plans get more chances to be allocated
resources.

If you are already interested to take up one of the topics brought to
the list and run with it to draft such an action plan, un-designated
volunteers as very much welcomed :)

I know we're all very busy, but I believe most of us share our belief in
the Web as the best platform outthere, as well as in the risks upon that
platform if we let it lag behind alternative approaches — in the grand
scheme of things, if a small share of your current time can help the Web
for the many years to come, I hope you'll agree this would have been a
worthwhile investment.
