I never thought of RFC 2660 as other than an exercise in documenting a failed experiment. That said, you are right to point to the similarities. It does share some of the characteristics of the SHTTP design, but only superficially. It is also very different in enough ways that I wouldn't have thought to consider this as a replacement or successor. I don't think that a reference to RFC 2660 is needed.
