Declare it at the top level, and either derive _all_ your complex types from a single type with either an optional ref to that global attr, or an <anyAttribute processContents='strict' namspace='##targetNamespace'/>. The latter has the advantage that you can add _another_ such optional attr by simply declaring it. ht -- Henry S.
