We are pleased to announce the release of GEFEG EDIFIX® XML/EDI module. which creates XSD schemata and DTDs existing EDI application guidelines including UN/EDIFACT, EANCOM, VDA, Odette and others. The generated schemata are in conformance with the current W3C schema specification (W3C Recommendation, dd. May 02, 2001). The XML/EDI module supports Draft Standard E DIN 16557-5 currently published as Draft International Standard ISO/DIS 20625 Thus it gives users the assurance that the XML files created, beside conforming to current EDI standards, also comply with the latest national and international standardization work. New developments in international XML standardization are continuously incorporated in updates to the XML module. In order to provide a user-friendly, form-based presentation of XML files the eB Implementation Accelerator GEFEG EDIFIX® also includes XSL style sheet generation. An XML data modelling and schema development module will follow soon and will provide a bridge between XML based message development and traditional EDI standards. A detailed description is given below. Please list our program at the W3C webside http://www.w3.org/XML/Schema. Jörg Walther walther@gefeg.com http://www.gefeg.com GEFEG EDIFIX® serves Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) through consistency between Existing EDI Standards and W3C-XML The eB Implementation Accelerator GEFEG EDIFIX® , a software tool for the preparation, implementation and maintenance of Electronic Data Interchange structures between partners of electronic business applications, supports the generation of XML schemas according to the XML specification of W3C and thus builds a bridge to the demands of Enterprise Application Integration. New data modeling and XML schema development functions GEFEG announces a significant extension to the well-known eB Implementation Accelerator GEFEG EDIFIX® in order to provide users with data modeling and XML schema development functions. While the existing XML/EDI module guarantees compatibility between existing EDI standards and new XML applications, the forthcoming data modeling capabilities of GEFEG EDIFIX® are also aimed at users who want to develop XML data where no classic EDI standards are involved, like XML based EAI solutions, or who want to complete a systematic data modeling before creating EDI implementation guidelines. XML/EDI Module to create XML documents from EDI MIGs The XML/EDI module of GEFEG EDIFIX® creates XML data structures from existing EDI application guidelines including UN/EDIFACT, EANCOM, VDA, Odette and others. It supports the procedure for generating XSD schemata in conformance with the current W3C schema specification (W3C Recommendation, dd. May 02, 2001). Thus it gives users the assurance that the XML files created, beside conforming to current EDI standards, also comply with the latest national and international standardization work. New developments in international XML standardization are continuously incorporated in updates to the XML module. In order to provide a user-friendly, form-based presentation of XML files the eB Implementation Accelerator GEFEG EDIFIX® also includes XSL style sheet generation. Only One Primary documentation needed for both XML and EDI GEFEG EDIFIX® with the XML/EDI module combines the advantages of a semantic description of data structures in existing EDI standards, such as UN/EDIFACT, with the technical versatility of XML. Furthermore, because just one primary documentation needs to be maintained for both classic EDI and XML, the maintenance required remains level in spite of the different methods being put into application. GEFEG EDIFIX® users enjoy the advantage of investment security for the existing EDI applications that they have already implemented. Moreover, while GEFEG EDIFIX® and the XML/EDI module allow classic EDI users to gain XML capability faster -without sacrificing consistency with existing applications - the XML/EDI module also opens up a way for small and middle-sized enterprises (SME) without prior EDI know-how to connect to the EDI data flow of large companies. Combined EDI Standards Repository and Design, Documentation & Testing Tool GEFEG EDIFIX® serves as a repository for EDI standards and as a powerful design, documentation and testing tool for specific EDI interfaces. In addition to the original UN/EDIFACT standard database and the German edition published by DIN, GEFEG EDIFIX® also stores and documents other EDI standards including X12, EANCOM, EDIFICE, Odette, and VDA, as well as proprietary standards such as SES (Siemens EDIFACT Standard), Philips COPS and SAP IDocs, and in-house structures. Furthermore, GEFEG EDIFIX® can store any data interchange format, and can be used for the development, documentation and maintenance of its data structures. Experienced German eB service provider GEFEG (Gesellschaft für Elektronischen Geschäftsverkehr mbH) based in Berlin, Germany, is a pre-productive eB service provider with about fifteen years' experience in EDI consulting as well as in the development and marketing of its EDI software. In addition to providing consulting services for the implementation and maintenance of EDI standards, subsets and corporate EDI MIGs, GEFEG also participates in national and international bodies concerned with the standardization of business transactions, such as UN/CEFACT (International), DIN (Germany), DISA (United States), EDIFICE (Europe). GEFEG EDIFIX® is a commercial product. For further information on the product please contact: Jörg Walther GEFEG mbH mailto:walther@gefeg.com http://www.gefeg.com
