In August, a preliminary revision to the SOAP 1.2 specification was made with the intention of resolving issue 250 [1]. During recent reviews, the editors discovered that the resulting text did not conform as closely as possible to the resolution agreed by the workgroup and officially documented at [2]. Accordingly, I have this evening further revised the specification and I believe it now substantially conforms to the intentions of the WG. For the moment, the resolution is reflected only in the XML [3], as I have no convenient means of generating the HTML. In addition to noting this change, the purpose of this note is to formally notify the WG and the commentator that the final text differs somewhat from the agreed resolution. Specifically, the agreed resolution suggested: "With the exception of the three SOAP role names defined above, other role names MAY be defined as necessary to meet the needs of SOAP applications." This seems nonsensical. Accordingly, I have revised that to read: "In addition to the three SOAP role names defined above, other role names MAY be defined as necessary to meet the needs of SOAP applications." If the members of the WG believe this does not reflect the intended resolution, please let the editors know ASAP. xmlp-comments should be deleted from the distribution of any replies to this note. Thank you.
