ETF: Proposed Resolution to Issue #1

Issue 1

Applications have different naming rules for names. Some examples of names are amount, @amount, :amount, #amount, ?amount, 565amount, _amount, etc. Many (not all) of these names are invalid XML Names. Per status quo, if such a name occurs in an application, it is not possible to represent this name using SOAP Encoding.

Proposed Resolution

We propose an algorithm (see attachment) to encode invalid characters. This algorithm is based on an SQL working draft, ISO/IEC 9075-14:200x(E) dated June 18th, 2001.
