Hello. A discussion has sprang up here so it's a good time for this message. During the f2f wg meeting last week it was decided that the following two proposals for handling issue #25 be sent for more discussion. I took the liberty of rephrasing the second sentence of proposal #1, originally it said "Intermediaries MUST not remove trailers" but it was not clear whether the intermediaries could change the trailers and how much so. Proposal #1 =========== "Trailers are not subject to the processing rules for header/body entries described in Section 2. However, the information carried in a trailer may be accessed when processing header/body entries. Intermediaries MUST by default (unless they know otherwise) forward the trailers unchanged with the forwarded message." The spec should clarify in the narrative that trailers are allowed in the envelope. Section 2 should also clarify that actors have access to any part of the message including parts of the message after the body. Proposal #2: (more radical) ============ Simply disallow trailers. We can rely on some other mechanism like attachments to provide equivalent functionality. I'll post my own comments in a following message. Jacek Kopecky Idoox
