RE: WSDL1.1: Minor change request proposal: mandatory attribute name in the definitions element.

How would making @name mandatory help distinguish files? There's no
requirement the name be unique between files. You already need some
out-of-band agreement to define a domain and agree to use unique names
within that domain. Doesn't seem much of an additional burden to also
agree to use the @name attribute within that domain.

Francis,

The name attribute was dropped because it doesn't add much. You can
refer to the WSDL document by its URL or its namespace. In WSDL 2.0 you
can also refer to any component by a URI (see appendix A and C). The
<definitions>/<description> elements are collections, and might describe
many Web services. Using the component URI gives you more precision
about what you are referring to.

WSDL1.1: Minor change request proposal: mandatory attribute name in the
definitions element.

Hi

In the current WSDL 1.1 specification,
http://www.w3.org/TR/wsdl , the attribute "name" of the
element <definitions> is optional.

When there are more than one webservices specified by many wsdl files
supported by a single webserver, it could be useful to have a way to
distinguish them. The name attribute seems to be at the right level for
this
separation. That is why, I am proposing to change the attribute "name"
from
optional to mandatory.

This change request could be also proposed for WSDL 2.0 with the
reinstantiation of the "name" attribute which has diseappeared in 2.0

Francis ANDRE
