Hi Daniel. * Austin, Daniel <Austin.D@ic.grainger.com> [2002-03-11 16:45-0600] [..] > I would like to propose the following CSF analysis for this goal, > from an architectural viewpoint: > > AG0001-A - It is a goal of the Web Services Architecture Working Group to > develop a > standard reference architecture for web services that encourages the > development of interoperable software products from multiple vendors and > provides a defensible basis for conformance and interoperability test > suites. > > Therefore, the web services architecture should: [..] > AC0012-A - Develop a means of identifying conformance so that > testing software can be constructed. > AC0121-A - The WSAWG should co-ordinate with WS-I on > development of conformance test suites I believe that conformance testing will come to play for the technologies designed by other Working Groups started as a result of the work of the WSAWG. I am all for interoperability and interoperability testing, but I am unclear how that could be achieved at the architectural level (I will be happy to have this clarified though). It would be up to those Working Groups to co-ordinate with people (WS-I and others) developing test suites. I would therefore specify that AC0012-A is delegated to the Groups developing the technologies, and therefore remove the mentioning of the WSAWG in AC0121-A and replace "WS-I" by something more general (anybody could come up with a test suite). In the end, I would maybe drop AC0121-A and rephrase AC0012-A: Ensures that the development of identified technologies identifies conformance so that testing software can be constructed. This is a W3C-wide goal, but I guess that it's OK to repeat it. Regards, Hugo -- Hugo Haas - W3C mailto:hugo@w3.org - http://www.w3.org/People/Hugo/ - tel:+1-617-452-2092
