The Netscape 4.x series (which was released in 1996 and has had no development since 1998) is notorious for its poor support for CSS so a hack is used to avoid having that browser request the style information. This causes Netscape 4.x to fall back on its user defined default colour scheme. Netscape users who dislike their own preferences should consider changing them. They should probably also consider upgrading to a modern web browser. -- David Dorward <http://dorward.me.uk/>
