Another place to you can look for answers is the newsgroup comp.infosystems.www.servers.unix. I'm sorry for the delay in getting answers out. We have 1 part-time student answering the mail as fast as he can. The last time we dumped the mailbox (because it was so backed up that we couldn't answer all the mail) was around Christmas. So if you sent a question before Christmas and it wasn't answered, it probably won't be. If you sent a question in this year, it'll get answered as soon as possible. FYI, when the back log is over 1000 messages, we dump anything over 3 months old, then over 2 months etc. until we're down to around 500 messages. We never dump questions less than 1 month old and we try to send email out requesting that anyone whose mail was dumped who still has a question to resubmit it. For those people who don't even get the standard "we've received your mail" response, your reply-to address was invalid. (We get a fair amount of this mail.) Make sure you include a valid Email address in your message. It takes time and effort to track down & write answers; when the message bounces, a limited resource has been wasted. We are looking for solutions to this problem. The only way we'll get better customer support is if we find a way to fund it or charge for it. On the upside, this summer we will be upgrading our cust. support software to the @ATS system which should improve response times. I'm sorry but one of the realities of free software is slow customer support. - Elizabeth Frank Forwarded message: > From bearheart@bearnet.com Wed Feb 21 11:28:18 1996 > Message-Id: <2.2.32.19960221172902.00743ee0@204.145.225.20> > Organization: BearHeart Technology Group > X-Bearmail: Mars > X-Internet-Freedom: Help Keep the Internet Free! > X-Sender: billw@204.145.225.20 > X-Mailer: Windows Eudora Pro Version 2.2 (32) > Mime-Version: 1.0 > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" > Date: Wed, 21 Feb 1996 11:29:02 -0600 > To: dnew@fv.com, Beth Frank <efrank@ncsa.uiuc.edu> > From: BearHeart / Bill Weinman <bearheart@bearnet.com> > Subject: Re: NCSA httpd question (fwd) > Cc: www-talk@w3.org > > At 08:31 am 2/21/96 -0800, Darren New spake: > >On Wed, 21 Feb 1996, Beth Frank wrote: > >> Questions about NCSA HTTPd can be sent to httpd@ncsa.uiuc.edu. > >I've sent mail several times to that address asking about licensing your > >server as you require for redistribution.
