RE: Registration of acct: as a URI scheme has been requested

There's been a vigorous discussion about the "acct" scheme and whether it is well enough defined, useful enough, etc. to warrant a permanent scheme registration. I don't think www-tag is going to resolve this issue registration -- the process is being followed and the expert reviewer has noted acceptance of the scheme.

However,  what might be productive for the TAG to consider:

The IRI working group in the IETF ( ) is trying to finalize an update  to "Guidelines and Registration Procedures for New URI/IRI Schemes".

Please look at the criteria given for new schemes, and indicate if you think there are changes necessary, either as email to the working group mailing list ( or in the issue tracker: .

Would you want to loosen or tighten the criteria for utility or definition?
