The Web is certainly more than just HTML. I doubt anyone disagrrees with that. However, I suspect you may be conflating two very different things. In a very real sense, I think the Web is not more than just HTTP. A lot of the SOAP and WS work seems to be in active opposition to HTTP, and part of an effort to make the Web more than just HTTP. This bothers me. Many people really want the Web to be just HTTP, and think this is a good thing.
