Hello, in the SVG2 draft the role attribute is mentioned, but the definition seems to deviate from that of SVG tiny 1.2. The definition of SVG tiny 1.2 allows to use CURIEs to reference an appropriate vocabulary. The role referenced in SVG2 seems to restrict this to a small set of values, defined only by ARIA. If we take into account, that for example SVG has no elements with semantical meaning for text elements and ARIA does not even mention role items corresponding to (X)HTML elements (or elements from DAISY, TEI, LML etc) with semantical meaning, there is currently surely a big gap for the usage of the role attribute for text in SVG to indicate the semantical meaning. ARIA seems to have almost no role items with semantical meaning for graphical shapes as well, therefore there might be a need for a specific vocabulary of graphical structures for some authors as well. Therefore I suggest to align the definition of role in SVG2 with that of SVG tiny 1.2 to have a more useful attribute for SVG. In the SVG2 requirements it was accepted to have the RDFa attributes in SVG2 as well as in SVG tiny 1.2. Currently they still seem to miss. This could be an alternative to the usage of the role attribute as well, if present - will this be added as agreed? Olaf
