I prefer Xpath above CSS. What stuck to my non-expert mind after a one time read of the document including the comments at the bottom: - XPath better fits in the family of other specs like for example Xforms. - Xpath does namespaces nicer, way important for the semantic web. - Xpath generally more future oriented - The biggest market share of CSS implementations and also CSS knowledge is 'not too well': not a smart brick to build houses with. - the status of general Xpath implementations available - What Mozilla uses for XBL (FireFox being a leading browser)
