Hi, I would like to add a use case for this, especially since it came up on the DPUB IG call yesterday (in context of Houdini use cases, but still). A similar behavior is common in math rendering. For example, the MathML spec has `overflow=scale` <https://www.w3.org/Math/draft-spec/mathml.html#chapter2_interf.toplevel.atts> for this purpose -- although it's not implemented in any (web-based) rendering system I know of. Best regards, Peter Krautzberger, MathJax.
