The "viewport" (as referred to in CSS2.1, etc.) generally refers to the layout viewport, not the visual viewport. The layout viewport (currently) is unique to the root scroller, though it's possible/likely that zoomable elements will necessitate the addition of a layout viewport concept for elements as well. The terms "layout viewport" and "visual viewport" are already broadly used. I think adding a third term will increase ambiguity, not decrease it. >We're naming a rectangular area here... it's not padding or an inset, which is an offset from outer edges!
