The CSS Working Group has published a first public working draft of
the CSS Line Layout Module:

http://www.w3.org/TR/css-inline-3/

This document covers special typographic effects for initial letters,
such as drop caps. As initial letters work very differently in
different scripts, we are actively seeking information and feedback on
initial letters in non-Latin scripts. In the future this spec will
also cover more general inline layout.

We welcome your comments. Please send any comments to this mailing
list, <www-style@w3.org>, and prefix the subject line with

    [css-inline]

(as I did on this message).

For the CSS WG,
Dave Cramer
