[css-variables] Comments in custom property declaration value

Hi,

What happens if a custom property declaration contains a CSS comment in 
the value? Obviously this should be valid, but is the comment preserved 
when the value is serialized in CSSOM?

I think that comments should not be preserved, and that this should be 
specified normatively.
