Some pages that have examples of Japanese text obliquing (斜体、shatai): Manual page for InDesign 4. http://help.adobe.com/ja_JP/InDesign/6.0/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-6deaa.html Video tutorial on obliquing in InDesign: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO-TFpOnFi8 It's interesting to note that in both cases the examples featured both show a vertical shear in the direction *opposite* from the one used in MSWord for synthetic italics in vertical text runs.
