It gave a better sense of how far apart things were. It would probably be better if it accelerated instead of going a constant speed though, so that close things wouldn't be quite so instant, and far things needn't take quite so long. With the first one, the painting of my iPad 2 screen didn't seem to quite keep up for long scrolls, and there white gaps that seemingly scrolled away before they could be painted with anything.
