Not easier necessarily, more beneficial for authors for sure... Less confusing perhaps than some of the other things discussed in other threads in terms of why you might treat it a bit differently - with something custom it's more expected or acceptable to have slightly different characteristics... For "native selectors" the wins target very specific use cases (by comparison) and anything short of "it's just like everything else save potentially more costly feels like it would be confusing and viewed more as an excuse than a legit reason to be different. IMO.
