RE: [css-variables] Cycling between values with variables

Anonymous boxes could be targeted using a pseudo class (like ::layout-child), as I mentioned elsewhere.

Main benefit here seems really to have a default value when all/most elements use the same values, without requiring everyone to use its own variable fallback.
