[fantasai:] > ...it was brought up that Grid Layout is currently only capable of > positioning immediate children of the grid element This constraint generally aligns with the flexbox model where children of the flex container turn into flex items. (Given how much we have prioritized 'consistency' lately, I think it's reasonable to point that out). Thankfully it seems we're not changing the default behavior i.e. this is an extension. Any reason this needs to be addressed in Level 1 though? The potential for enhancements in this area is very large. While I'm not opposed to staying in WD and postponing some level of cross-browser interop while Bert thinks of other 'interesting examples' I'd also like to know if other implementers believe this needs to be defined in order for them to implement this feature. Author input is also especially important; very specifically: what can't they do with the feature as it is that would be solved by including this proposal?
