The CSS WG updated the Working Draft of CSS Fonts. The new version is here: http://www.w3.org/TR/2011/WD-css3-fonts-20110324/ The new features compared to the previous draft are mostly related to handling of low-level font capabilities: if a font contains alternative versions for some glyphs, it is now possible to select those. Examples are different kinds of digits (lining, old-style), swash characters, and variants for different languages. For OpenType only there is a special interface to enable arbitrary features, beyond those for which CSS defines keywords. Other changes include a new property to turn kerning off, and another to turn synthesis of fake bold fonts off. The status of this draft is that it seems to have more or less all required features, but the syntax details of some of them are still being investigated. The CSS WG is requesting feedback. Please, send all comments to this mailing list <www-style@w3.org> and please help us by starting the subject of the e-mail message with the short name of the draft in square brackets, i.e.: [css3-fonts] For the CSS WG, Bert -- Bert Bos ( W 3 C ) http://www.w3.org/ http://www.w3.org/people/bos W3C/ERCIM bert@w3.org 2004 Rt des Lucioles / BP 93 +33 (0)4 92 38 76 92 06902 Sophia Antipolis Cedex, France
